Samsung’s Android smartphone portfolio continues to grow, as the company announced today at the Samsung SEA Forum in Singapore that it will be releasing the Galaxy Pro.
Though details are still light, images of the device have shown that it is going to adopt a similar design to many of the BlackBerry handsets available today: it will sport a four-row, QWERTY keyboard beneath a 2.8-inch touchscreen display.
This is a design popular with many business users, who prefer easy text entry over a large display, and the “Pro” in the name indicates that this model is likely aimed at the enterprise.
It appears that the Galaxy Pro will be an entry-level smartphone, as the handful of specs that have been revealed aren’t on the high end. It will be powered by an 800 MHz processor and will run Google Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI overlay.
Other features are going to include a 3-megapixel camera with auto-focus, Wi-Fi connectivity, and Social Hub Premium.
Price & Availability
It is currently unknown what U.S. wireless carriers will offer the Galaxy Pro, though it has been announced that U.K. carrier Three will offer it.
